A "Consumable memory error" message is displayed when I install a new cartridge in my HP Laser printer. Is this normal?

This message indicates a communication problem between the printer and the cartridge chip. Check that the cartridge is compatible with your printer model. Turn the printer off and on again before reinstalling the cartridge. If the problem persists, replace the cartridge.
